Save Wharf Shed 1 from demolition
It's the last remaining wharf shed in the Port's Inner Harbor. Too much of the Port's character and maritime history has been eroded away. Adaptive re-use of the wharf shed is a win for the Port, for tourism and is economically viable too.
Read about the history of this shed in the September 2016 Missive. (Thanks to Michael Weir for his research).

Petition to protest against the demolition of Wharf Shed 1
Our PoANT Facebook page has many posts and photographs about adaptive re-use of wharf sheds in other places. It also provides an opportunity for community members to share their thoughts and opinions about our heritage. The Facebook page is the place to go to find out what is happening currently in and around The Port.

Rex Munn
Cultural Heritage Award
Rex Munn was President of the MUA Veterans Association, a member of SA Unions community action group, Vice-President of the May Day Committee, member of the Asbestos Advisory Committee to the SA Government, member of the Fair Go for Pensioners Committee and a foundation member of the Port of Adelaide branch of the National Trust. His motto was “retired from the workforce but not from the struggle.”
He was also a volunteer at the South Austrlian Maritime Museum in Port Adelaide, enthusiastic gardener, home brewer and passionate long-time supporter of the Tea Tree Gully Football Club.
To celebrate and remember the contributions that Rex made to the community, PoANT initiated the Rex Munn Cultural Heritage Award to be presented on the first Sunday after May Day at the Workers' Memorial in Port Adelaide. The inaugural award was presented in 2015 by Michelle Hogan and Pat Netschitowsky to Emma Webb, representing Vitalstatistix Theatre Company and the performance of "Rockin' The Boat".
